Louis C.K. Mocks School Shooting Survivors During Set on LI

James Dolce, owner of Governor's Comedy Club, said C.K. was a "genius" and that he was honored to have him at his club. What do you think?

Comedian Louis C.K. has come under fire for jokes he made at a recent secret show about survivors of school shootings, and now the owner of the Levittown club where he was performing is coming to his defense.

C.K. has been absent from the public recently since women came forward last year accusing him of sexual misconduct, including masturbating in front of them. The comedian was out of the public eye for months, and has slowly been coming back by performing unannounced sets at New York comedy clubs.

Earlier this month, C.K. performed a set at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown, and two minutes of audio from his set have leaked online. The comedian is now facing harsh criticism for jokes that targeted non-binary individuals and school shooting survivors.

After speaking about how he spent his youth doing drugs and acting stupid, C.K. said that kids these days are too boring. "Because you went to a high school where kids got shot? Why does that mean I have to listen to you?" he said.

You can listen to the full two minutes here. But be warned, there is a lot of cursing in the clip.

Fred Guttenberg, the father of one of the high school students killed in Parkland, Florida last February, wrote on Twitter: "To anyone who knows Louis CK, please deliver this message for me. My daughter was killed in the Parkland shooting. My son ran from the bullets. My wife and I deal with loss everyday. Why don't you come to my house and try out your new pathetic jokes?"

After the clip started going viral, James Dolce, the owner of Governor's came out to defend C.K., calling him a "genius."

“I did hear that a couple people are perturbed by some of the things that he said," Dolce told The Daily Beast. "My response to that is that it’s comedy. You know who you’re coming to see. You bought tickets to see him,” he said.

"I have no regrets at all," he added. "He’s a legend ion the comedy biz. To have a legend play my club is an honor.”

What do you think of C.K.'s jokes? Are they in poor taste, or is it just comedy?
