Division Avenue Teacher Earns Science Educator Award

Jeff Miller is one of the University of Chicago's Outstanding Educators.

From Levittown Schools: Long time Division Avenue High School science teacher Jeff Miller was recently selected as a recipient of the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Educator Award. Each year, the University of Chicago chooses educators for the award based on incoming first year student nominations of those who have made a strong impact on their intellectual growth.

Dylan Chase, a member of Division Avenue High School’s Class of 2018 and a first year student at the University of Chicago, nominated Mr. Miller for his commitment to educating students year after year. Mr. Miller has been teaching at Division Avenue High School for 25 years and currently teaches physics. In his nomination letter, Chase thanked Mr. Miller for being his inspiration. “I want to thank you for personally inspiring me to want to pursue a career in physics and for being such a close ally as I navigated through my high school career,” he said.

Mr. Miller was touched by the award. “It’s very nice to be recognized,” he said. “I am fortunate to have such wonderful students year after year who constantly inspire me. I love what I do each day.”
