Division Team's "Challenge" Appearance to Air Sunday
The team takes on Roslyn: will air on MSG Varsity.
A team from Division Avenue High School will become the latest Levittown school to have an appearance on MSG Varsity's "The Challenge" air on television this week.
The Division Avenue team of Eric Maciel, Garret Leotta, captain Evan Rosati, Mike Severance and alternate Sukhneet Sahota will take on Roslyn High School in a first round matchup. The team's academic advisors are Kristen Stritzl and Todd Tomeo.
Division is the third of the area's three high schools to have their team's appearance air on MSG Varsity. Last Sunday, a team from Island Trees High School had their first-round matchup against Oyster Bay air. The Island Trees team is made up of Brinda Temburni, Alexander Buhse, captain Michelle Savino, Kathryn Gundersen and alternate Andrew Malkiel. Their advisor is Lou Medeiros.

MacArthur's team had their first-round match air in November.
“The Challenge” includes 192 high schools from Long Island , the Bronx, Brooklyn, Westchester and the Lower Hudson Valley, New Jersey and Connecticut. This season, Long Island will be represented by 32 high schools from Nassau County and 32 high schools from Suffolk County. A new match-up can been seen every Sundaythrough Friday at 6:30 pm, on MSG Varsity, Cablevision’s iO TV, Channel 14.

Participating schools advance through a series of elimination rounds, with one school in each region being crowned regional champion and winning $2,500 for their school. The winning teams from each region go on to “The Challenge” Championship where they square off in a Tri-State Showdown. The school awarded the title of Tri-State Champion will receive $10,000 in prize money and each student participating in the final “Challenge” Championship game will receive $500.
