Editor's Notebook: A Change in Editorship

I'm handing over the reins to another editor.

Readers:

Today is my last day as the editor of the Levittown Patch.

Do not fear - my replacement is already in tow. Steve Nicastro, another Patch editor, will be taking over in the coming days.

Usually, these spaces are reserved for someone to be sentimental, to self-indulge a bit. Originally, I wrote here that I wasn't going to do that, but as I look through this now, I notice I did it anyway. Forgive me.

It's been an interesting 10 months. I've written several stories of triumph and I've written several stories of tragedy. I've learned about everyday people doing extraordinary things in this community.

I've been to nearly every Levittown school board meeting in that time frame, including every budget hearing. (Once, I was the only non-board member at a 5 p.m. Friday meeting.)

Overall, it was an interesting experience. Sometimes sad, sometimes exciting, never dull. It was my first full-time job and it will leave a lasting impression on me.

There are plenty of people I can thank for getting me through these 10 months. Most of them have already been thanked, privately. If you haven't, consider this an apology and a thank you all in one.

May is going to be a big month in Levittown, with a hearing on the Crocus Lane senior housing project and school board elections to come. This will be your best resource to follow for that information. I would tell you to keep reading, but if you're reading this, I'm sure you already know to do that.
