On Tuesday August 30th, 2011 after being without power for days as the result of Hurricane Irene, power was restored to the Levittown community that Jacki Walton has been a resident of for 40 years. It is likely that as a result, a power surge caused a fast-moving fire that destroyed her Levittown home. Jacki lived in this home along with her son, his wife and their 2 small children and have been left without a home and have been displaced since.

For Jacki Walton the past 12 months have been filled with personal tragedy and loss:

- Only 8 months earlier she mourned the loss of her husband, a carpenter who actually did the work on their Levittown home.
- Jacki had to have breast cancer surgery this past year.
- In addition, she also has had double cataracts.
- The day of the house fire was also Jacki’s birthday.
