Ex-Levittown Kiwanis President Gets New Leadership Role
He'll lead the Long Island South Central division of the Kiwanis, one of the largest memberships in the state.

LEVITTOWN, NY — The former president of Levittown's Kiwanis Club has taken office as leader of one of the organization's largest divisions for the 2019-20 service year. Steve Dalton started his tenure Oct. 1 as lieutenant governor, succeeding Kevin Kamper of East Meadow, the organization announced last week.
Kiwanis is a community service group dedicated to children. Local clubs sponsor student-run chapters at dozens of schools, such as Key Clubs in high schools, Builders Clubs in middle schools, and K-Kids in elementary schools. The chapters attract hundreds of student-members and often become the most popular "club" offered.
The group said Dalton will bring youthfulness and enthusiasm to the leadership role.

"I am excited for a great year of service," Dalton said in a news release. "I am ready to roll up my sleeves and work alongside each of our sixteen clubs to enhance their membership and expand their reach."

"We are in the community every day making a difference," Dalton said. "Whether it’s with flagship initiatives like our Terrific Kids program that recognizes students who exhibited good character, or hosting the annual Strawberry Festival, or with countless other programs, we are successful because we are out there with our neighbors."
The Long Island South Central division has raised and donated thousands of dollars for causes including combating Lyme disease in kids, funding a hospital's child trauma center and renovating the upstate camp, "Kamp Kiwanis," which serves hundreds of kids in need at no cost to their families.
"The LISC Division assists with leadership training, service projects and other administrative matters to help today’s students become not just tomorrow’s leader’s but today’s leaders," Dalton said. "Our country, our state, and our neighborhoods need them and their vision, dedication, and boundless optimism."
