Former Nurse At County Jail Indicted On Contraband Charges: Nassau DA

Yasmin Talbot, a former nurse manager at Nassau County Correctional Center, allegedly had conversations with an inmate, prosecutors said.

MINEOLA, NY — A Levittown man was indicted on Thursday for promoting prison contraband at the Nassau County Correctional Center, prosecutors said.

Yasmin Talbot, 48, a former nurse manager at the correctional center, allegedly engaged in an unauthorized relationship with inmate Christopher Wright, Nassau County D.A. Anne Donnelly said.

Talbot allegedly had numerous inappropriate and unauthorized conversations with Wright during hundreds of calls, in which they discussed Talbot bringing contraband into the jail and funding Wright’s commissary account with a fictitious name, Donnelly said.

Talbot is charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, two counts of first-degree falsifying business records, three counts of official misconduct and fifth-degree conspiracy.

"Yasmin Talbot allegedly used her position to help an inmate gain access to a dangerous blade and confidential information on prisoner locations that posed a safety and security risk to other inmates and jail staff," Donnelly said. "Abuse of power by correctional employees and those who work in the facilities has a destabilizing effect on the jail population and creates potentially dangerous conditions."
