Hempstead Town Opening Cooling Centers During Heat Wave
Residents without air conditioning can go to any of these places to cool off during this week's intense heat.

Town of Hempstead officials announced that cooling centers will be open Tuesday, Aug. 28 and Wednesday, Aug. 29 in response to the current heat wave.
“The town will be operating cooling centers in order to provide relief to residents stuck in the heat and humidity,” said Supervisor Laura Gillen. “Check on elderly friends and neighbors and be sure to take frequent breaks from the sun.”
On Tuesday, the following places will be open form 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.:

- Baldwin Senior Center
- Bellmore Senior Center
- Cedarhurst Seniors In The Park
- Franklin Square Senior Center
- Green Acres Senior Center
- Hempstead Senior Center
- Levittown Senior Center
- Merrick Senior Center
- Oceanside Senior Center
- Rosa Parks Senior Center
- Salisbury-East Meadow Senior Center
- Uniondale-Hempstead Senior Center
- Uniondale-Merrick Senior Center
- Wantagh Senior Center
These locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
- Averill Boulevard Park
- Baldwin Park
- Hewlett Point Park
- Salisbury Park
On Wednesday, the following locations will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.:
