Hurricane Grill & Wings Hits Levittown

New restaurant offers some of the hottest wings around.

Before Hurricane Grill & Wings opened their doors to the community last month, local residents were forced to travel elsewhere for quality wings. Levittown's newest establishment offers over 30 unique flavors for all wing lovers to enjoy.

While the restaurant, which originated in Florida, is best known for their famous wings, the menu gives diners a diverse selection of lunch and dinner choices.

Entering Hurricane Grill & Wings helps patrons forget the gloomy weather outside. The wings are hot, and the interior is decorated in bright colors and surfboards. The bar area is surrounded with flat screen televisions and is usually lined with colorful, tropical drinks.

For starters, the appetizer menu offers wings, of course, along with other originals like bleu cheese and jalapeno queso dip ($6.99), Caribbean shrimp tenders ($8.99) and obscenely loaded fries ($6.99). The obscenely loaded fries have proved to be a big hit and are smothered in chopped bacon, shredded monterey jack and cheddar cheeses, jalapenos and buttermilk ranch dressing. Salads are also available to start, including traditional house and caesar salads, and more fulfilling options like the churrasco steak salad and the honey pecan chicken salad. Prices vary by size.

A regular wing platter features 10 wings and two side dishes for just $10.49 ($9.99 for boneless). Wing flavors are separated by five categories: Mild and Sweet, Warming Trend, Ready for "The Rush", Proceed with Caution and the hottest of all, Seek Shelter. The mild sauce at Hurricane Grill & Wings is definitely a bit spicier than standard mild sauce, but it is nothing compared to Seek Shelter.

Hurricane Burgers, especially the half pound angus steak burger ($7.99), are generally large enough to bring a bit home. The southwestern ranch burger ($8.99) is a popular choice among guests and is served with sauteed mushrooms, green peppers, red onions, monterey jack cheese and a side of ranch dressing.

Chicken and steak phillies ($8.99) also give very generous portions and are served with Hurricane's famous fries. For those who love seafood, the shrimp tenders ($10.99), tossed in your choice of either garlic, parmesan and herb or firecracker sauce, are a great dinner option.

Hurricane Grill & Wings' dessert menu is limited, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. The hot chocolate lava cake ($5.99), filled with rich, chocolate truffle, is a favorite among diners. Key lime pie ($5.99) and mango passion cheese cake ($5.99) are also available.
