Hurricane Season In Nassau County: Preparation Meeting Set
Hurricane season is underway. A disaster preparation meeting is planned Tuesday for Nassau County residents.
BETHPAGE, NY — Nassau County officials will join emergency staffers in Bethpage in preparation for the 2019 hurricane season.
On Tuesday, disaster workers and Laura Curran, the county executive, will inform residents about the resources available to families before, during and after a hurricane or emergency. Officials will talk about the importance of preparing for disasters ahead of time.
Many of the county’s emergency assets will be on display at the meeting and emergency response workers will take questions and provide additional information on keeping pets safe, evacuating, preparedness kits and more.

Patrick Ryder, the Nassau County police commissioner, will join Curran, along with the county fire marshal, the head of the county's emergency management office, and workers in the public works and health departments, among others.
The meeting is slated to begin at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at the emergency management office at 510 Grumman Rd. West, in Bethpage.
