Lee Road Elementary Students Learn Through Holidays

The students learned about the power of persuasive writing through a Christmas challenge and created Multiplication Menorahs.

Press release from the Levittown Public Schools:

Dec. 15, 2020

Third grade students in Jennifer Lores’ class at Lee Road Elementary School prepared for the holidays with engaging lessons as part of their writing and math units. The students learned about the power of persuasive writing through a Christmas challenge where they had to persuade their reader to agree with them on where Santa Claus should vacation. They thought of vacation spots such as the Bahamas, Aruba and Texas and had to support their writing with descriptive reasons and details. To accompany their writing pieces, the students also colored their own Santa Claus in a creative vacation outfit.
During math, each student created their own Multiplication Menorah featuring multiplication equations on each candle. The activity helped students practice multiplying by a specific number. Afterwards, the class displayed their persuasive writing pieces, Santa creations and Multiplication Menorahs outside of the classroom for all to see, just in time for the holidays.
