Levittown Ford Hosts Grand Opening Ceremony

In a tough economy where more and more businesses are closing their doors, local entrepreneur Randy Sporn is defying the odds.

Sporn revitalized the former Levittown Ford at 3195 Hempstead Tpke. and opened for business back in November. Town of Hempstead officials joined him and his colleagues Thursday morning for a grand opening celebration featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

An owner of several automobile dealerships, Sporn believes his experience, along with his dedicated staff, will allow Levittown Ford to excel to new heights.

"We have high hopes to be the number one Ford dealer on Long Island," said Sporn. "You need personal commitment and my staff has it."

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray felt it was important to contribute to the opening of the new Levittown Ford and the revamping of local business across the town as a whole.

"This has traditionally been a Ford dealership for a long time, so when the new owners approached us last summer we wanted to work closely to get them everything fast as possible," said Murray, a Levittown native. "In the economy that we have now, it's important we do everything to support local business."

"The terrible economy is not just here in Levittown or the Town of Hempstead, it's across our entire country," she added. "We want to work with local business owners to help them enhance their businesses and revitalize our towns."

Levittown Chamber of Commerce President Dean Baer thinks Sporn is setting a great example for the rest of the community and hopes to see similar progress in the upcoming year.

"We want to see businesses grow and thrive in our town and this is a good sign," said Baer. "It's back to the car dealership it was before and it should become a viable business in our town."
