LEVITTOWN, NY — A Levittown house fire Friday has been determined to be caused by an electrical problem, fire officials said. The blaze ignited around 8:30 p.m. Friday near Club Lane and Haven Lane, the Wantagh Fire Department said.

Smoke could be seen billowing out of a closet, and firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke in the home. As more firefighters arrived, the heavy smoke appeared to worsen with the fire seemingly in the walls, the department wrote in a Facebook post. Firefighters thought the blaze could be spreading to the second floor of the home and asked for additional units and resources from neighboring departments.

A fire hose was stretched to the first floor of the house and a second was stretched to the front door.
