Levittown Man Arrested for Alleged Attempted Robbery in Bethpage
Albert Garfield was charged with five offenses including second-degree robbery.

A Levittown man was arrested Wednesday night after attempting to rob another man at a Mobil gas station in Bethpage.
According to police, 45-year-old Albert Garfield allegedly approached a 46-year-old male subject and demanded a dollar. When the man refused, Garfield allegedly displayed a pistol tucked into his waistband and told the man he was a cop. When the victim still refused to give Garfield money, he allegedly walked to a gray Ford Expedition and drove away from the scene.
Police were called to a separate scene in Hicksville approximately two-and-a-half hours later after a witness saw Garfield allegedly walking at the corner of South Broadway and Hazel Street with the handgun in his waistband. Garfield was placed under arrest at the scene and the handgun was allegedly found in his vehicle. Police also allegedly found cocaine, crack and ibuprofen pills in Garfield's car.

Garfield is being charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree criminal impersonation, two counts of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and one count of seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance. He will be arraigned Thursday in Hempstead court.
