Mr. Burke is no stranger to the Levittown Public Schools. He graduated from General Douglas MacArthur High School in 1998 and has served as a social studies teacher there for the past 19 years. Mr. Burke has taught ninth and 10th grade Global History Regents courses, eleventh grade United States History and Government courses and ninth grade Global Honors courses. He has also facilitated Advanced Placement United States History classes and devised the curriculum and instructed students in the school's United States History of the Presidents course.

As a Levittown teacher, Mr. Burke created active lessons for inclusion classes with special education teachers, prepared and delivered lessons that addressed diverse learning styles and abilities, collaborated with fellow colleagues in peer coaching activities, coordinated social studies field trips and more. Aside from teaching, he has been involved in several noteworthy associations such as serving as co-advisor for MacArthur High School's National Honor Society where he introduced a new program in 2017 to make the society more inclusive with fall inductees.

Mr. Burke received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Hofstra University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He later received his Master of Arts degree in American History from St. John's University College of Liberal Arts, and his Advanced Certificate in School Building Leader/School District Leader from St. John's University College of Education.
