LIMARC Meeting Educates on Security and QRP Radio Kits

The Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club met Wednesday, January 10, for a discussion on security systems and low power transceivers.

The Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club met on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Levittown Hall. A pre-meeting was held at 7:30 where members and their guests were treated to a presentation on BITX low power transceiver kits by Neil Goldstein, W2NDG. BITX Transceivers are kits that you can build yourself. Neil explained that because the BITX transceivers are open source, hobbyists can customize them and make their own modifications.

The General Meeting started at 8:00 PM and after some brief club business Craig Ross, KD2CXK, gave a presentation on CCTV Systems, including analog cameras, IP Cameras and recorders. IP Cameras are cameras that connect to your network either with a network cable that can also carry the power to the camera or wireless.

The Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club (LIMARC) is a non-profit club promoting amateur radio on Long Island. If you are interested in obtaining your amateur radio license visit the LIMARC website at http://www.limarc.org and look for the education section.
