MacArthur Baseball Coach Celebrates 500th Win
Steve Costello, who was born and raised in Levittown, has been with the district for 30 years.

From Levittown Schools: Steve Costello, Levittown Public Schools’ director of social studies and world languages, is not only a talented administrator but also a stand-out coach on the baseball field. Mr. Costello, who is currently in his 27th year as General Douglas MacArthur High School’s varsity baseball coach, received his 500th career win during the team’s game against Valley Stream Central High School on April 29.
As a valuable member of the district for the past 30 years, he started out playing baseball as a student at Levittown Memorial High School. Serving as a coach has allowed Mr. Costello to build relationships with his players over the years, one of his favorite parts about the role. “The coach-player relationship is a very strong bond and many of my former players have also gone into teaching and coaching,” he said. “Reaching this milestone gave me a chance to reflect on the many wonderful people who influenced my coaching career and most importantly, the outstanding young men who really won these games on the field and how much I owe to their commitment.”
The district congratulates Mr. Costello and the MacArthur High School varsity boys’ baseball team on their win.
