Man Arrested for Alleged Assault, Burglary
The accused defendant was transferred to a local hospital for observation.

Nassau County Police are charging a Hicksville man for an alleged assault at a Mallard Road home Tuesday.
Police allege that they found the defendant, Michael Goettelman, 39, breaking and damaging items inside a Mallard Road home Tuesday while holding a knife. They arrested the defendant at the scene.
Police also allege that Goettelman later repeatedly kicked the door of the holding cell he was held in.

They allege that he eventually kicked the door open and that the door allegedly struck a police officer above his right eye.
The officer was treated and released at a local hospital for a laceration that required several stitches.

Goettelman was also transferred to a local hospital for observation.
Police are charging Goettelman with assault on a police officer, second-degree burglary, third and fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree menacing.
