A man in Levittown was seriously injured Thursday morning after police said he tried to light unexploded fireworks that he found.According to police, a 30-year-old man found an unexploded firework near Birch Lane and Pinetree Lane at 10:45 a.m. He ignited it, but it went off too soon, and the man suffered extensive trauma to both hands and lost his left thumb. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Nassau County police warn that residents should never try to re-light unexploded fireworks.
