May 25: Teacher Layoffs, Tornado Victims and Smoothies

1. Can it be true? The National Weather Service says today will be mostly sunny with a high near 73 degrees. Get out and enjoy the sunshine we've all been waiting for!

2. Want to do your part to help the tornado victims suffering in Missouri? The Levittown Kiwanis Club will have a drop-off station for donations at Division Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike during the Levittown Memorial Day Parade. They are asking for clothing, blankets and non-perishable food items.

3. It's college week at Tropical Smoothie Cafe! Get a $2 smoothie with your college ID now through May 29.

4. Yesterday Division Avenue High School showcased their best artists. Come back to Levittown Patch for the story. Today at 5 p.m., MacArthur High School will host their student art show. 

5. Levittown issued layoffs to 108 teachers this year. Want to get informed on what's going on? The Levittown Board of Education meets tonight at 8 p.m. at the Levittown Memorial Education Center and the Island Trees Board of Education meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Karopczyc School.
