Nassau Coronavirus: 'Letters To Our Heroes' Drive Launched

Nassau County officials are encouraging the community to send first responders and healthcare workers 'thank you' letters.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY—As the coronavirus continues sweeping across the county, state, and nation, healthcare workers and first responders are, now more than ever, on the front lines keeping people safe. As a way to say 'thank you' for all of their hard work, Nassau County officials announced the launch of “Letters To Our Heroes."

"Our community has time and time again shown our ability to come together in times of crisis; this outbreak is no exception," I urge everyone to take just a few minutes to email or send a letter to be delivered to our community's heroes in the coming weeks." Nassau County Legislator John Ferretti said.

From now through next Tuesday, April 7, residents are encouraged to write a note to first responders and healthcare workers thanking them for helping to keep the community safe and healthy. They can send these notes electronically via email to jferretti@nassaucountyny.gov, or send them to the legislative building, Attention: Legislator Ferretti, 1550 Franklin Avenue, Mineola, NY.

I encourage moms and families in our community to come together and take advantage of Legislator Ferretti's 'Letters To Our Heroes' drive and show our appreciation for those on the front lines of the COVID-19 outbreak," Helen Meittinas, President of the Community Association of Stewart Avenue, said.

Residents can type a letter and email it, or for children, they can scan any pictures or drawings and email them or simply drop them in the mail to the legislative building, officials said.
