Nassau Man Stabbed His Elderly Uncle To Death: Police

Police found the body of the elderly man in January while performing a wellness check.

Nassau police arrested a Melville man who they say murdered his elderly uncle earlier this year.

On Jan. 4, while performing a wellness check, police found the body of 70-year-old William Cahoon in his home on Shepard Lane in Levittown. Police say he had been stabbed multiple times.

On Wednesday, police arrested David Cahoon, Jr., 40, of Clubhouse Circle, Melville, for the murder. According to Newsday, David Cahoon was William's nephew.

According to police, David went to William's house that day seeking money. The two got into an argument, police said, and it ended with David murdering his uncle.

At the time the body was discovered, police said the investigation was made more difficult because William Cahoon was living in hoarder-like conditions.

David Cahoon, Jr., was charged with second-degree murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
