Northside Students Recreate Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

To celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, third grade students in Susan O’Daly’s class at Northside Elementary School read “Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade” by Melissa Sweet. Each student then created their own balloons using markers, tape and construction paper and wrote their own persuasive paragraphs to try to convince Macy’s to use their balloons in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The lesson allowed students to have fun while showcasing their writing skills and creativity.
