SUV Crashes Into Hicksville Fire Hydrant; Occupants Flee

Officials say firefighters and police were called to the crash.

HICKSVILLE, NY — An SUV that was believed to be stolen crashed into a fire hydrant Friday night in Hicksville and officials said the occupants ran from the scene.

The Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department was called for a smoking car into pole on Duffy Avenue around 11:45 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters found the SUV sheared off a fire hydrant.

Nassau County police were called to the crash and were searching for the occupants.
