Town to Rally Against Proposed AMC Loews Liquor License [POLL]
Supervisor Murray and Councilman Hudes sent letter to constituents; rally planned outside theater Saturday.

The Town of Hempstead is planning to rally in front of the in Levittown on Saturday to oppose the movie theater's decision to file for a liquor license.
Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilman Gary Hudes - both Levittown residents themselves - expressed their opposition to the theater's application in a letter dated Dec. 9. The letter was mailed to Levittown residents, who were invited to attend the 1 p.m. rally.
A Town of Hempstead press release stated that the letter was also mailed to the New York State Liquor Authority. In expressing their opposition to the liquor license in the letter, Murray and Hudes cited concerns about leaving drunk adults in the presence of unsupervised children. They also called the sale of alcohol at the theater "an invitation for mischief, underage drinking, vandalism and violence."

Management of the AMC Loews Nassau Metroplex 10 said they were unable to comment until given permission by AMC Entertainment, Inc. Requests for comment from the AMC corporate office were submitted but not immediately returned.
