UPDATE: Computer Problems Fixed at Starbucks

The company expects to be back up and running as usual Saturday morning.

Update:Starbucks says the outages that impacted the company’s registers have been fixed.

“The point of sale register outage has been resolved and all Starbucks stores in the U.S. and Canada are opening for business today as usual,” Starbucks said in a statement on its website Saturday morning. “As previously stated, the outage was caused by an internal failure during a daily system refresh and was not the result of an external breach. We apologize to our customers for this inconvenience.”

Original post: Starbucks registers across the country and Canada quit working Friday evening, causing many of them to close early and others to remain open with extremely limited service.

If you’re headed to a Starbucks on Long Island or anywhere else, Friday night, so far you’re out of luck. Starbucks said a system refresh of its register system caused the outage but the company had no estimate on when the problem would be fixed.

That means if you’re headed out Saturday for your morning Joe, you may want to first check with the Starbucks you plan on hitting or check the Starbucks website.
