16-Year-Old Girl Shot, Injured, After Verbal Dispute: PD

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A 16-year-old girl was shot and injured after a verbal fight in Amityville, Suffolk County Police said.

According to police, two groups of females were engaged in a verbal dispute on Cahill Street when one of them fired a shot from a handgun at about 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday.

The bullet struck the 16-year-old North Amityville girl in the leg, police said.

Everyone involved in the dispute, except the 16-year-old, fled the scene before officers arrived, police said. The teenager was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
