2 Arrested, 10 Violations Issued During Amityville Deli Inspection: Police

AMITYVILLE, NY — Two people were arrested during a New York State Liquor Authority inspection at an Amityville deli Friday night, Suffolk County police said.

First Precinct Crime Unit officers, along with the New York State Liquor Authority, Village of Amityville Fire Marshal and Village of Amityville Building Inspector, inspected Galeanos Deli, on 58 Albany Ave., around 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 18 in response to a community complaint, police said.

Edwin Galeano Arguenta, 36, of Brentwood, an employee of the deli, was charged with second-degree promoting gambling and possession of a gambling device, according to police.

Marvin Amaya, 45, of Copiague, a patron at the deli, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said Amaya also had an outstanding bench warrant.

The village fire marshals and building inspector issued a combined nine building, fire and code violations to the deli's manager, police said.

The New York State Liquor Authority also issued one violation and is conducting a further investigation into the business, according to police.

Amaya was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sept. 19.

Galeano Arguenta was issued a field appearance ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 8.
