2 Men Caused Explosion While Trying To Start Fire: SCPD

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY - Two men were injured after causing a explosion in North Amityville on Sunday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.

Officers responded to calls of an explosion on Simmons Street at 2:05 p.m. They found that the two men were trying to start a wood fire when an explosion occurred.

One man suffered burns to his face and was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. The second man suffered burns to his hands and leg and was transported Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.

The arson squad is investigating.
