22 Guns Found Hidden Behind False Wall In Lindenhurst Home; Man On Probation Arrested: Police

Probation officers discovered assault rifles and handguns hidden in the basement of a Kane Street home during a search, police say.

LINDENHURST, NY — A Lindenhurst man on probation was arrested Friday night after Suffolk County Probation officers discovered 22 firearms hidden behind a false wall in his basement, police said.

Probation officers searched the home of Todd Pinnell, 54, at 49 Kane St. at around 7:10 p.m. Friday as part of the conditions of his probation, according to Suffolk County police.

During the search, investigators discovered assault rifles hidden behind a false wall inside a basement closet, police said.

First Squad detectives responded to the scene and recovered eight assault rifles, 10 semi-automatic handguns, and four revolvers, along with multiple ammunition feeding devices, police said.

Pinnell was charged with 47 felony counts, police said.

The charges include 22 counts of 3rd-Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon for possession with a prior conviction, 15 counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition Feeding Devices, 3rd-Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon for assault weapon possession, 1st-Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon for possession of 10 or more firearms, and 2nd-Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon for possession of five or more firearms.

Pinnell was being held overnight at the Suffolk County Police First Precinct, police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip, according to police.
