25 Arrested During 4/20 Police Crackdown
Police conducted several checkpoints across Suffolk on April 20, a "holiday" for people marijuana aficionados.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY - A total of 25 people were arrested and over 40 traffic infractions were issued during a "4/20" enforcement across Suffolk County this past weekend.
On Saturday April 20, a "holiday" for people who enjoy smoking marijuana, New York State Police, along with Suffolk Police, conducted a multi-agency operation which focused on driving while ability impaired and the unlawful possession marijuana.
In addition, officers from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, Riverhead Police Department, Southampton Police Department, Shelter Island Police Department, Southold Police Department, Village of Quogue Police Department, and the Village of Westhampton Beach Police Department also participated in the crackdown which consisted of conducting checkpoints throughout Suffolk County.

As a result, there were no arrests for driving under the influence of drugs, but there were 8 DWI arrests, 17 unlawful possession of marijuana arrests and over 40 vehicle and traffic law infractions.
