3 Teens Caught In Stolen Vehicles In Amityville: Police

One teen led officers on a chase in a stolen pickup

AMITYVILLE, NY - Three teens were arrested after they crashed a stolen pickup truck in Amityville on Tuesday, according to Amityville Police.

On July 3 at 1:05 a.m., an officer saw two of the teens rummaging through cars on Carleton Avenue, police said.

Officers then responded and arrested the teens who were in one of two vehicles reported stolen in Amityville on July 2, police said.

Officers then found a third teen stealing a local resident's pickup truck and followed the truck to Merrick Road and Route 110 where the driver lost control and hit the median causing extensive damage to the stolen vehicle, police said.

The teen fled on foot and was eventually taken into custody, police said.

He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip where he was treated and released into police custody, police said.

All three arrested were 18 and 17 years old from Corona, Queens.

They were charged with third degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth degree grand larceny.
