5 Suffolk County Beaches Closed To Bathing
The beaches were shut down after high levels of bacteria were found in the area.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY - Five beaches in Suffolk County were closed to bathing due to high level of bacteria, Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken announced on Tuesday.
The following beaches were shut down:
- Amityville Beach
- Tanner Park Beach in Copiague
- Venetian Shore Beach in Lindenhurst
- Little Bay Beach in Strongs Neck
- Lake Ronkonkoma
Tomarken warns the public that bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.

Beaches will reopen when further testing reveals that the bacteria have subsided to acceptable levels.
