85-Year-Old Woman Killed In Sunrise Highway Crash: PD

The woman was believed to have suffered a medical emergency at the time, police say.

COPIAGUE, NTY — An 85-year-old woman died after a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Copiague on Thursday, Suffolk County police said.

The woman was driving eastbound on Sunrise Highway at 10:55 a.m. when she appeared to have suffered medical emergency, police said. Her vehicle then struck another vehicle that was stopped at a red light at New Highway, police said.

The 85-year-old was pronounced dead upon arrival at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said. The occupants of the other vehicle, a woman and her infant, were also taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center for treatment of injuries, police said
