Amityville Couple Arrested After Trying To Flee Officers: Cops
The two led officers on a chase while attempting to arrest the man on a parole warrant, police say.

AMITYVILLE, NY - An Amityville couple were arrested after trying to run away from officers in Amityville last week, according to State Police.
On July 24, charged 36-year-old Rashied Smith and 37-year-old Kasha Gant after the two fled from an arrest team that was looking to arrest Smith on a NYS parole warrant, police said.
The couple were apprehended after a short vehicular pursuit at the intersection of Schleigel Boulevard and Susan Lane, police said.

Smith was charged with second degree criminal mischief, first degree unlawful imprisonment, second degree reckless endangerment, third degree unlawful fleeing a police officer and reckless endangerment of property, police said.
Gant was charged with third degree hindering prosecution and making a false written statement, police said.

She was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear at Suffolk County First District Court on August 15.
