Amityville Man Charged With Animal Cruelty: SPCA
The 2-year-old dog was found tethered on a 2-foot wire cable with no food or water, sitting in her own feces and urine, the SPCA said.

AMITYVILLE, NY - An Amityville man was recently charged with animal cruelty for failing to care for his dog, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.
Andre D. Staley was arrested on Friday and held at the Suffolk County 1st Precinct, according to the SPCA.
The 37-year-old was charged with failure to provide food, water and veterinary care to Bella, his female German Shepherd as well as multiple tethering charges, the SPCA said.

After an anonymous complaint, SPCA detectives responded on April 2 to find the 2-year-old dog tethered on a 2-foot wire cable with no food or water, sitting in her own feces and urine, the SPCA said.
The wire cable was tied so tightly around the dog's neck that it became partially imbedded requiring surgery to remove the necrotic tissue, treat the infection and close up the open wound.

The dog was seized and immediately transported by Babylon Animal Shelter in Amityville to be evaluated by a veterinarian.
Staley was arraignment on Saturday, April 20.
