Amityville Woman Charged With Failing To Care For Pit Bull: SPCA

The 1-year-old dog was found "emaciated and with open sores," according to the SPCA.

AMITYVILLE, NY - An Amityville woman was arrested on Friday for failing to take care of her pit bull, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.

Shannon King, 31, was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty for failure to provide proper sustenance including food, water and veterinary care, to a 1-year-old male pit bull, the SPCA said.

The dog was emaciated and was covered with open sores, according to the SPCA.

During her arraignment, King was released on her own recognizance with the condition that she is not permitted to possess any animals.

She is to appear in Amityville Justice Court on Tuesday.
