LINDENHURST, NY – It's obvious that members Lindenhurst High School robotics team are a big fan of their advisor, Daniel Cahill.
Cahill, a coach and advisor, was honored with the Woodie Flowers Award by FIRST Robotics, an international high school robotics organization. Cahill was nominated by his team, The Psicotics, who wrote an essay recommending him for the award.
He was honored at FIRST’s regional Long Island Competition at Hofstra University where the team competed.
According to the school, the award recognizes robotics team coaches who have displayed exceptional mentorship and support for their team. Additionally, the Woodie Flowers Award was created by Dr. William Murphy in 1996 to recognize special mentors whose teams compete at FIRST Robotics competitions.
It honors leaders who motivate through communication and challenge their students to be clear and succinct in their own communications and goals, the school said.
