The New Food Pantry Van! (lan)

It was a blessed Sunday morning at St. John's Lutheran Church on John Street in Lindenhurst, as the congregation came together to celebrate a special addition to the church's food pantry ministry.

During the morning service, Rev. Pastor Marc Herbst and members of the congregation presented one of the church's deacons, KerriAnne Wilmer with a van that will be used to support the food pantry and the many families who rely on it each week.

The van may be new to St. John's, but its purpose is already clear. The church's food pantry currently serves approximately 180 families each week, and having a dedicated vehicle will make it easier to pick up, transport and distribute the food and supplies needed to keep that ministry going.

For a congregation that has long believed in putting faith into action, it was a simple but meaningful moment, and one worth celebrating.

On Sunday morning, surrounded by the congregation, a set of van keys represented something much bigger: neighbors helping neighbors and a community making sure that families in need continue to have a place to turn.

A very special Sunday in Lindenhurst, and another reminder of the good that happens when a community comes together.

Special thanks to Island Harvest and all the organizations that come together to make this good work possible.
