Author Shares Experiences With Lindenhurst MS Students
The 8th grade students received a special visit from Thanhha Lai, author of the novel "Inside Out and Back Again."
From Lindenhurst Schools: The eighth-grade students of Lindenhurst Middle School schools received a special visit from Thanhha Lai, author of the novel “Inside Out and Back Again.” The novel, which is required reading for all Lindenhurst eighth-graders, is historical fiction, based on the author’s experiences as a refugee during the Vietnam War. She describes her journey to America, where she faced bullying and discrimination.
“Her story is truly inspirational and helps to foster a sense of empathy in us all,” said English teacher Deborah Weinstein. Thanhha Lai has won the Newbery Medal and the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.
