Police ID Bicyclist Struck Dead On Sunrise Highway
A landscaping truck struck the bicyclist Thursday afternoon, police say.

AMITYILLE, NY – Police have identified a bicyclist who was struck and killed by a landscaping truck on Thursday afternoon.
According to police, Eulogio Rodriguez, 58, of Copiague, was riding his bicycle northbound on Albany Avenue when he was struck by a landscaping truck at the intersection of Sunrise Highway at approximately 4:10 p.m.
The driver of the truck, Mario Lazo, 38, of Brentwood, made a left turn onto eastbound Sunrise Highway from southbound on Albany Avenue when the crash occurred.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Lazo and a male passenger in the truck were not injured.
The truck was inspected for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
