Bicyclist Struck, Killed By Car: PD

LINDENHURST, NY — A bicyclist died after he was struck by a car in Lindenhurst Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

A man was riding his electric bicycle northbound on Straight Path when he was struck at the intersection of Sunrise Highway by a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe at about 3:55 p.m., police said.

The bicyclist, who has not yet been identified by police, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he died from his injuries, police said. The driver of the Tahoe of was not injured, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
