LINDENHURST, NY - From Lindenhurst Public Schools: To culminate a unit on the Civil War, fifth-graders at Harding Avenue Elementary School in the Lindenhurst Union Free School District dressed up as Civil War characters as part of a “wax museum.” Students in Ginamarie Krumholz and Melanie Inzirillo classes worked together to research important figures from the Civil War, as well as, various battles and their locations, using their Chromebooks in class.

Classes throughout the school took turns visiting the museum. As they passed through the exhibit, which included student-painted backdrops, visiting students were encouraged to push a student made “button” to hear a brief presentation including historical facts surrounding each of the figures.

Additionally, the fifth-grade students donning historical attire, presented brief skits before an audience of parents and guardians in which they introduced their character and shared their role in the civil war.
