Brothers Open New Long Island Microbrewery

The tasting room is open on the weekends from Friday to Sunday.

AMITYVILLE, NY - Local residents looking to enjoy a fresh beer this spring and summer are in luck. A new microbrewery recently opened up in Amityville.

Brothers Gerard and Greg Sims opened the Small Craft Brewing Co. last month at the site of a former CrossFit gym on 66 Merrick Road.

The business officially opened its doors on March 23rd.

The brothers got the idea for the business after they created two beers for Greg's wedding in 2015, according to a report in Newsday.

"We looked at each other and said, 'Are we going to do something about this?'" Gerard told Newsday.

The microbrewery offers a rotating menu of hand-crafted ales and lagers.

Currently,the tasting room is only open on weekends: Fridays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
