CHU ON CCCS BOARD
LINDENHURST RESIDENT SAMMY CHU JOINS CHILD CARE COUNCIL OF SUFFOLK BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc. (CCCS) is pleased to welcome Lindenhurst resident Sammy Chu and Sayville resident Jeffrey M. Yonkers, CPA, to their Board of Directors.
Sammy Chu is the chief innovation officer for Enerlogic LLC located in Plainview. A proven leader in promoting market adoption of residential energy efficiency, he was the founding director of the Town of Babylon’s Long Island Green Homes Program – the first operationalized property assessed clean energy program (PACE) in the country.
Chu previously served in the administration of County Executive Steve Bellone as director of Operations and as commissioner of the Suffolk County Department of Labor, Licensing & Consumer Affairs. He was the lead county official in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, tasked with coordinating response and recovery. A staunch advocate of inclusive, sustainable economic development, Chu was instrumental in creating workforce opportunities for traditionally underserved individuals during the planning of the transformative Wyandanch Rising development, one of the seminal LEED ND projects.

He currently serves as chairman of the Long Island chapter of the US Green Building Council, as a board member of the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, and recently was elected to the position of second vice chairman of the Suffolk County Planning Commission. Chu formerly was a board member of the National Home Performance Council.

Jeffrey Yonkers is the chief financial officer at Best Market, headquartered in Bethpage. He has more than 20 years of experience in both public and private accounting across a wide variety of industries. Yonkers has extensive experience working with closely-held, private-equity and publicly-held businesses with matters involving reporting issues, financial disclosures and financial statement preparation. He additionally is adept at handling, lender relations, internal reporting, budgeting, cash management and financial covenants.
Yonkers is an active and effective trainer, who frequently holds training seminars on auditing and reporting topics. He also is a prolific thought leader and has written articles and conducted seminars on a variety of accounting topics. Yonkers is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) – where he previously served co-chair of the Nassau County Chapter Audit Committee for four years. He also is treasurer for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 184; and previously was secretary for the Boy Scouts of America, Pack 363, in Sayville. Yonkers received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York College at Oswego.
