Copiague Business With 13 Code Violations Shut Down: Police
Officers found that employees sold alcohol and tobacco to minors as well as promoted gambling in the store, police say.

COPIAGUE, NY - A Copiague business was shut down after it was issued 13 code violations during an inspection on Friday, according to Suffolk Police.
Due to numerous community complaints, officials conducted inspections into the sale of cigarettes to minors at three businesses with an underage agent, police said.
The undercover agent was able to purchase alcoholic beverages and cigarettes from two businesses in Copiague, Flame Grocery on 500 Oak Street and Mc Dollar Express on 1648 Great Neck Road, police said.

Mevlut Cil, 38, of Bay Shore, an employee Mc Dollar Express, was charged with first degree unlawful dealing with a child, sale to person under 21 and sale of tobacco products to person less than 21, police said.
He was issued a field appearance ticket to appear at First District Court.

Mohammad A. Iqbal, 39, of Central Islip, an employee at Flame Grocery Inc., was arrested for seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (concentrated cannabis), first degree unlawfully dealing with a child, sale to person under 21, sale of tobacco products to person less than 21, disorderly premise, promoting gambling, and possession of gambling devices, police said.

The Town of Babylon Quality of Life Task Force issued 13 combined Building, Fire and Code Violations to the owner. As a result of the violations the establishment was condemned and closed.
Both men will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 11.
