Daniel Street students ‘Eat the Rainbow’
In recognition of National Nutrition Month, students of Daniel Street Elementary School took part in the annual "Eat The Rainbow" Week.

From Lindenhurst Schools: In recognition of National Nutrition Month, students of Daniel Street Elementary School in the Lindenhurst Union Free School District took part in the annual “Eat The Rainbow” Week. Each year in March the school encourages students to make healthy eating choices by wearing a designated color for each day of the week and exploring nutritional tips and food selections for fruits and vegetables that reflect that day’s color. Additionally, students sing songs and submit jokes about the various fruits and vegetables that are read aloud during the morning announcements.
This year, Lindenhurst Mayor Michael Lavorata, presented the students of Daniel Street Elementary School with an official proclamation declaring the last week in March as “Eat the Rainbow Week” in Lindenhurst going forward. “It is good to have a week like this,” said second-grader Jenna Zadik. “It gets you to eat colorful food and then you will stay healthy and not get cavities too.”
