Driver Charged With Vehicular Assault, Felony DWI After Southern State Crash
The crash occurred Saturday night. The driver and his two passengers were injured, police say.
A 33-year-old man was arrested following a single-car crash on the Southern State Parkway that injured him and his two passengers Saturday night, state police said.
According to police, Mark M. Diamond, of West Babylon, was driving his 2011 Mercedes-Benz east on the Southern State near Exit 20, Grand Ave in Hempstead, when he lost control of the car and struck a tree on the south shoulder of the road at about 11:53 p.m.
Diamond and two passengers, 30-year-old Stacy Ward, of Lindenhurst, and 33-year-old Patrishah Morgan, of Hempstead, all suffered broken bones in the crash.

Police investigated at the scene and at Nassau University Medical Center and then arrested Diamond, who was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Diamond is charged with aggravated vehicular assault, second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, felony DWI and reckless driving. He is being held at the hospital pending a bedside arraignment, police said.
