E-Bike Rider Hit By Car In North Lindenhurst, Seriously Hurt: Police

Police said the e-bike rider was traveling through a crosswalk when the collision occurred.

NORTH LINDENHURST, NY — An e-bike rider was seriously injured in a crash with a vehicle Friday night in North Lindenhurst, Suffolk County police said.

A 55-year-old of Lindenhurst, was driving a Toyota Prius south in the right lane of Straight Path and passing through a green light at Route 109 when the vehicle struck an e-bike rider at about 8:06 p.m., police said.

The rider, Gregory Dotson, 49, of Wyandanch, was traveling westbound on Route 109 in the intersection’s southwest crosswalk when the crash occurred, police said.

Dotson was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries. The driver was not injured, police said.

The Toyota and the Hunter Pro e-bike were impounded for safety checks.
