Long Island's Second Challenger Baseball Jamboree

The 2012 Long Island Challenger Baseball Jamboree is set to take place on October 7th at the Town of  Oyster Bay , John J. Burns Park Complex, located in Massapequa Park, NY. The event is designed to bring awareness to both the Challenger Division of Little League Baseball and to those Challenger Baseball programs that serve our Challenger Athletes here on Long Island.

The Event will highlight the Challenger Athletes and there will be an exhibition game involving the Long Island Bombers, a vision-impaired softball team, that utilizes a "beeping" ball and "buzzing" bases.

Challenger Baseball is open to all children with disabilities from ages 5 to 21. The fundamental goal of the Challenger Division of Little League Baseball is to give challenged athletes a chance to play baseball to the best of their ability. Playing with official baseball equipment on Little League fields, Challenger Division players learn not only the fundamentals of baseball, but also how it feels to pull together as a team, being cheered on by family and friends.
